The History

Chiltern Cavaliers 11-a-side Team was first established in the summer of 1996. The idea came from Paul Borzone who wanted to organise a one off game with a few of his friends. The game took place on 12th August 1996. From this game it progressed to a further 10 matches through out the late 1990’s.
In 2008, after a 9 year break, the Chiltern Cavaliers 11-a-side team reformed for their 12th match.
Previously in 1999 a meeting had been held and a 5-a-side team was formed by Chris Perry and Dino Rice. This team were later to be managed by Chris Perrys late father John. The team entered the Sunday 5-a-side league and still play to this date (2010).
The 11-a-side teams unusual colours of chocolate and gold were inspired by Sutton United who wear them. The Cavaliers were mentioned (including team photo) in Sutton United`s matchday programme for the F.A cup match versus Cray Wanderers on the 13th September 2008.
As of March 2010, the team has seen over 75 players turn out for the Cavaliers (including 3 players loaned from opposing teams). Out of the original team that took to the field against The Bell on the 12th August 1996 , 8 of the 12 players are still turning out for the team ( even if 7 are the wrong side of 35 ! ) .
Whilst the 5-a-side team continues to flourish and the 11-a-side team enjoys the `non commitment` of only playing friendlies, it is hoped that new `young blood` will be found to continue the tradition and keep the `Cavalier` spirit alive.
The 2nd Royalist Cup ( february 2010 ) was also played to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake, and £255 was donated to the disaster fund.
Special thanks must go out to Jon Webster , who not only is a `midfield maestro` for the team but has helped make this website possible.
New players are always welcome of ANY age as the clubs motto is ` Never Too Old To Wear Chocolate + Gold `!!! .
