Royalist Cup 13
Royalist Cup 13 was played on sunday march 6th 2016, at Bedgrove, Aylesbury, Bucks. It was the closest Royalist Cup game yet, with the sides locked at the break with the first EVER goal less half !!!. After the break the Purple Cav`s scored first through Rai Lee-Long only for the golds to level through Craig Fraser`s well taken strike after being set up by a slide rule defence splitting pass from team mate Devon Blackman. The Purple`s had an impressive and scarily fast attack with Ryan Blake up top with Rai. Though the Gold`s defence stood up to the test for the whole of the first half with Veteran Defender Darren Druce and Big defender Leon Thompson mopping things up, alongside Rich Clothier and the very impressive Ashton Lawler who not only defended with class, but also made endless runs forward without getting the support or reward that they deserved. Aiden Bailey and Ian Gelly were likewise solid for the Purple`s defence. Andy Peattie and David Richards worked tirelessly for the Purple`s midfield as did Jordan Rice for the Gold`s. The Purple`s ended up taking a 3-1 lead through another 2 goals for hitman Rai Lee-Long, who now stands at the top of the Cavaliers All Time scorers with 36 strikes to date. The Gold`s did though, make it a tight, and exciting finish to the game, when a long range shot from Omari Alphonse just slipped through the Purple`s `volunteer` goalkeepers Marc Bassinder`s hands, who had otherwise had a very solid performance, and who had stepped in at very late notice. Special mention`s must go out to David `Bruno`Richards and Patrick Henry for their Cavalier debuts for the Purple`s, and Trevor Bateman for the Gold`s. Whilst the volunteer officials -Errol Henry -referee, Dino Rice and Anthony Hall -linesmen, must be thanked for their efforts as no one else wanted to step in/up to do it !!!. After the Gold`s winning the first 10 of the 13 Royalist Cup matches, the Purple`s have now won 3 on the bounce !!!. The tradition of exciting and well matched games continue.
