Royalist Cup 12
Royalist Cup 12 was played on sunday the 13th of december 2015, at Bedgrove, Aylesbury, Bucks.
Five players did not show, forcing some retired veteran Cav`s to play the whole game as there were no subs available.
The Gold Cavaliers raced into a early 4-0 lead through the pace and trickery of jamaican youngsters Jabari Hylton and Jamaughn Barker, Jabari grabbing an hat trick to open his Cavalier`s goals account, and Jamaughn grabbing his first cavalier goal.
The Purple Cav`s looked a bit shell shocked, and when defender Alex Clothier limped off, Gold Cav`s manager Paul Borzone, came off to make the sides even (AND to have a much needed breather !!!). The Purples were then boosted by the arrival of Oxford United academy player Ty Deacon who had an excellent game and later in the 2nd half marked his first cav`s appearance with a debut goal. The Purple Cav`s got back into the match through Ped French and the top all time Cavalier marksman Rai Long, to make it 4-2. The Purple Cav`s went on to score 2 more through Jordan Rice and James Chapman, then Jordan Castello netted to just edge the Gold`s ahead 5-4 at the break.
Both teams had no subs, but with 46 year old gaffer Paul Borzone struggling for the Gold`s, the Purple Cav`s smelt blood and did have the majority of the 2nd half possesion, sending wave after wave of attacks down upon the Gold`s goal, Darren Druce and Leon Thompson clearing the decks time and time again, and saving a certain thrashing from the continued onslaught. However, Rai Long completed his scoring with a 2nd half penalty, Marc Bassinder added a brace, and Simon Mills and Ty Deacon got in on the goal scoring action for the Purple`s. The Gold`s scored 2 in the 2nd half through a long range Ashton Lawler strike and when Jamaughn Barker out sprinted the Purple`s defence to slot home his 2nd of his 2 goals in the game. The final score being 9-7 to the Purple Cav`s in another exciting Royalist Cup Final. This was the 2nd straight win for the Purple`s after the Gold`s had won the first 10.
Special mention for Cavalier debutant Luke Cairney who had a great debut, playing well, being on the winning side, and playing alongside his uncle Peter (Ped) to continue the great Cavalier tradition of Uncles, and Dads, playing alongside Nephews, and son`s.
